Recife, Brazil, will host the 14th Mathematical Olympiad of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (OMCPLP) from 15–20 November 2026. The OBM announcement dated 1 October confirms the host city and participating countries.
Which countries will take part?
The eight delegations are Angola, Brazil, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Timor-Leste. Brazil has already named a four-student team in the announcement.
OMCPLP is a separate international competition from the IMO. The event website, linked by OBM, identifies the Brazilian Mathematical Olympiad Association (AOBM) as the organiser.
When are the competition days?
The provisional programme lists:
- 15 November: delegation arrivals.
- 16 November: training activities.
- 17 and 18 November: the two competition mornings.
- 19 November: marking coordination, awards and closing.
- 20 November: departures.
The organiser says exact times and venues remain to be confirmed. These are the dates in the Recife event programme; no start time or time-zone conversion is being announced here. Delegations should check the programme again before making arrangements.
How can students follow the event?
The official results and papers page says results will be posted after the closing ceremony on 19 November. Its 2026 results and papers are currently marked as forthcoming.
The announcement does not give an individual application deadline or open-entry eligibility rules. Students interested in a future national team should ask their national organiser about selection. Our country directory helps locate organisers, while the Brazil guide explains Brazil’s wider Olympiad pathway.
