Malaysia’s IMONST 2 will take place on 24 and 25 October 2026 at Sunway University. The Malaysian International Mathematical Olympiad Committee’s invitation dated 6 October lists the selected participants and confirms the schedule. Check your category carefully: the four groups do not all sit the test on the same day.

Which day is your test?

  • Senior: Saturday 24 October, 9:30 AM–12:30 PM. Arrive by 8:30 AM.
  • Pioneer: Saturday 24 October, 2:00–4:00 PM. Arrive by 1:00 PM.
  • Junior: Sunday 25 October, 9:30 AM–12:30 PM. Arrive by 8:30 AM.
  • Beginner: Sunday 25 October, 2:00–4:00 PM. Arrive by 1:00 PM.

These are the times given for the venue in Selangor, Malaysia. The invitation requires arrival at least one hour before the test. The venue is the School of Mathematical Sciences, Sunway University, 5 Jalan Universiti, Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya, Selangor. This is an in-person test.

What invited students should do now

  1. Check your IMONST 1 result and the invitation’s category list.
  2. Read the official IMONST 2 instructions and complete the individual registration form supplied in your results letter.
  3. Confirm your category, date and travel arrangements with your parent or guardian.

The public invitation and instructions reviewed on 9 October do not state a registration closing date. Check your own results letter for any additional deadline; ask the organiser if anything is unclear. Do not interpret the exam-day arrival time as an online registration deadline.

How this stage fits into the IMO route

IMONST 2 is an invitational follow-up to IMONST 1. The organiser distinguishes participation from Malaysian IMO-team eligibility: its page also allows Stellar students who are not eligible for IMO 2027 to take the test. An invitation is not an IMO-team place.

Each category has six written-solution problems worth seven marks each. Beginner and Pioneer have two hours; Junior and Senior have three. The organiser links preparation material and past papers on the same page, and says medallists progress to Bengkel IMO training.

When practising, write the reasoning behind each answer and then compare it with a solution. Our Malaysia selection guide explains the wider pathway, while the free concept lessons can help you work on a weak topic.
