OBMEP or OBM: open the right archive

For OBMEP provas e soluções, use the official OBMEP paper archive. For OBM provas e gabaritos, use the official OBM archive. They are separate competitions. Choose the competition, level and phase before choosing a year.

Find OBMEP papers by level and phase

The OBMEP archive lists past editions, including 2025 and 2024, and offers a search for questions or topics. Open the required edition and match the level and phase. Check the document header before using an answer file.

OBMEP levelSchooling in the 2026 rules
Nível 16º and 7º years of Ensino Fundamental
Nível 28º and 9º years of Ensino Fundamental
Nível 3Ensino Médio

The 2026 OBMEP rules distinguish a first phase with 20 multiple-choice questions from a second phase with six written questions. These are current-format reference points, not a claim that every historical paper is identical. Read the selected paper’s instructions.

For second-phase practice, write explanations for each part. A numerical answer without its reasoning will not show whether you can handle a written problem. For first-phase practice, still keep rough reasoning so you can review mistakes afterwards.

Find OBM papers without selecting the wrong category

The OBM archive contains year and level filters. Its 2025 and 2024 listings distinguish Levels 1, 2 and 3 from the university category, labelled Nível Universitário. A pre-university student should not assume that the first displayed university paper is the appropriate starting point.

Select the year and level, then inspect the resource label. The archive also includes other national and international competitions farther down the page. An OIM or IMO paper is not an OBM domestic-round paper merely because it is linked on the OBM website.

For how these activities relate to national selection, use our Brazil entry and selection guide. An OBMEP award, an OBM invitation and a place on Brazil’s IMO team are different outcomes; a practice-page link does not establish qualification.

Portuguese terms that help you find the file

GabaritoAnswer or marking material; it does not always mean a full worked explanation

FaseRound or phase
Banco de questõesQuestion bank, rather than necessarily one complete past paper

This is an English navigation guide to Portuguese resources. It does not replace the original wording of a question or provide an authorised translation of the papers.

A three-step paper review

  1. Make the attempt traceable. Write the competition, year, level, phase and question number at the top of your work. Cover the answers and record whether the attempt was timed.
  2. Find the missing idea. For each unsolved question, write one sentence describing the obstacle. A topic such as counting is more useful than simply writing “too hard”. If a written solution contains a jump, identify what would justify it.
  3. Return after a lesson. Practise that idea, then solve the original problem again without the answer file. Explain each case in your own words and check that the final result satisfies the question.

Start with parity, systematic counting, divisibility or angle chasing when foundations are missing. For written rounds, add our proof-writing guide. These lessons are independently written and are not official OBM or OBMEP solutions.

Common questions

Does “OBMEP provas” also mean OBM papers?

No. The similar abbreviations name different competitions. Use the separate archive links at the top and check the paper’s own heading.

Where should I look for a new paper?

Check the organiser’s archive after official release. A year shown on a calendar does not mean its paper or solutions have already been released. This guide does not claim access to unreleased questions.

Can the papers be downloaded from this website?

Our buttons open the official archives. We have not copied their PDFs or established permission to republish them. The organiser controls the files and their use.
