The Sri Lanka Olympiad Mathematics Foundation (SLOMF) describes a progression from SLMC through further national competitions and IMO team-selection tests. Its website also lists other mathematics contests. Check the event’s role before assuming that an international-sounding title leads to the IMO.
The foundation’s published pathway
The foundation’s SLMC pathway page describes SLMC as multiple-choice, SLIMCC as short-answer, and SLMCC and the IMO team-selection tests as essay-style competitions. Later rounds therefore require students to explain mathematical reasoning, even if the first paper mainly tests answer selection.
SLMC offers several levels, and the page describes English, Sinhala and Tamil participation. Broad access to an SLMC level should not be confused with eligibility to represent Sri Lanka at the IMO. Read the international eligibility conditions separately.
Confirm the next SLMC notice before applying
The foundation provides account registration and an application area. First find a current SLMC announcement on the SLOMF website and confirm the correct level, language, centre and deadline with the foundation or your teacher. Creating an account alone does not register you for a competition.
Other contests shown in the application area should be considered separately unless SLOMF explicitly connects them to its national IMO selection route.
Use the level and language that fit your next round
The SLMC resource page separates English, Sinhala and Tamil past-paper links. It also includes model papers for particular levels. Use an actual past paper for a timed attempt and a model paper for additional practice; keep their labels when recording scores. An answer key can check the final choice, but it may not explain the reasoning.

The foundation’s resource page lists SLMC papers in English, Sinhala and Tamil, with an answer-key collection for 2004–2018. Model papers and selected worked solutions are listed separately. Match the paper’s year, level and language; a model paper is not a previous competition paper.
