Prepare for the state round with two separate three-problem sessions. Attempt one session without viewing the questions or solutions for the next session.

Practice format: 6 written-solution problems · Two sessions: 3 problems and 240 minutes per session.

For school year 9. This practice uses Lower Saxony’s two-session timing. State organisers administer the round; follow your own invitation if its arrangements differ.

Five independently authored practice papers follow the stated structure. Difficulty is editorial, not statistically calibrated to a particular competition year. These papers are not endorsed by the organisers.

Before you start

You should be able to write a connected proof using parity, divisibility, inequalities, counting and standard geometry. Leave time to justify an equality case or an exceptional configuration.
