OMM and its state committees
The Olimpiada Mexicana de Matemáticas is a programme of the Sociedad Matemática Mexicana. Each state committee handles its own selection. Use the pre-university OMM route for this guide; OMMEB and the national women’s competition have distinct notices and categories.
How to find the right application
- Open the official state-call index and locate your state. If no downloadable call is provided, use the committee directory.
- Read the year, category and local eligibility before completing a form. Ask whether the school submits a group list or each student registers.
- Record both the registration date and the exam date. Confirm the venue or platform, local time basis, any charge and how invitations to later rounds are sent.
The state-contest guide explains that committees choose their own procedures. There is no reason to assume your state uses another state’s deadline or every nationally suggested selection paper.
Two 2026 examples: both entry periods are closed
These examples show what to look for in a notice. They are not new invitations or nationwide rules.

Baja California assigns transport costs to the entrant’s institution; free participation should not be read as a promise that every travel cost is covered.
For a future cycle, ask for the new dated notice. Neither these closed calls nor the national site’s older general calendar establish a 2027 registration date.
National eligibility: check the next international year too
The published national regulations require state-contest qualification, bachillerato or lower schooling at the national contest, and age and university-study conditions tied to the following international competition. A student who qualifies now may still need to check their status for the next year.
Ask the state delegate to resolve an unusual schooling, residence or university-start case before entry. Use the IMO eligibility guide alongside the organiser’s decision; this website cannot approve participation.
What happens at the national OMM?
The national-contest guide describes two written papers on different days, each with three problems and four and a half hours. Full solutions are required. The event is usually in November, but exact 2026 dates and the next first-entry window were not established by the sources reviewed.
Leading national contestants continue through training and selection examinations. The national rules describe choosing six students for the following IMO. A medal or training invitation does not alone confirm that final selection.
Spanish papers: start with your next stage
The official resources separate state eliminatory, semifinal and final papers from national-level preparation. Some material is historical; read the year and stage on each file. The national-level page also includes older state-final papers with solutions, so its page title alone does not identify the stage of every link.

Follow your state committee for local results and OMM’s announcements for national and team decisions. Mexico’s international records are in the official IMO archive. Keep state-team, national-prize and IMO-medal records separate when comparing results.
If your school does not take part
Contact the state committee directly. Give your state, school level and intended competition, and ask whether an individual route or another participating centre is available. Do not assume that every state permits independent registration.
