- The official 2026 entry page is marked closed. No 2027 deadline or price is verified here.
- Completed dates
- Registration closed 20 February 2026. Rounds were scheduled for 12 March, 14 May and 30 July 2026.
- Who registers
- An authorised teacher or organiser registers on behalf of the school. The official page does not accept direct parent or learner registration.
- Eligibility
- Grades 8–12. The primary-school Mathematics Challenge and university Tertiary Olympiad are separate competitions.
- Fee
- Ask for the next season’s official entry form and any school-category exemption; do not pay against an old registration notice.

South African Mathematics Olympiad (SAMO) Rounds 1, 2 and 3 → training camps and selection → IMO team.
How to enter
A school teacher or authorised organiser registers learners through SAMF. SAMO serves Grades 8–12; younger pupils have the separate Mathematics Challenge. A high SAMO result opens further selection opportunities rather than automatically creating an IMO place. Past papers and solutions
SAMF’s catalogue describes training books and past-question collections for SAMO. Some are paid publications. The school SAMO, primary-school Mathematics Challenge and university Tertiary Olympiad are different contests; choose the school-level resource you need.
Previous results
SAMO results and awards covers the domestic programme. For international appearances, medals and contestant records, use South Africa in the official IMO archive. A national-round award and an IMO medal describe different achievements.
