Choose the competition, school level and phase that match your entry. OBMEP, Jacob Palis Júnior, supported regional competitions and invitation-based OBM or TM² are different branches of Brazil’s mathematics programme.

Practice available for years 8–9

This collection currently has one complete original OBMEP Level 2 first-phase paper. Level 2 means the 8º or 9º ano of Ensino Fundamental. Level 1 and Level 3 serve other school groups; they are not earlier or later exams you must take to use this paper.

The practice is in English. Official OBMEP papers are in Portuguese. The questions and diagrams below are original preparation material, not translations of official questions.

Find the right branch

  • OBMEP: school entry, then first-phase qualification for the second phase within your school level.
  • Jacob Palis Júnior and supported regional competitions: separate entry opportunities, with their own eligibility and nomination rules.
  • OBM and TM²: invited participation through the specified award routes. TM² has its own eligibility rules and a qualifying branch into international selection.

Read the sourced Brazil selection guide before deciding which competition to enter. The completed IMO 2026 selection used earlier awards; the October 2026 national contests must not be read as entry to an IMO that has already taken place. Future-cycle rules require a fresh organiser check.

Other levels and stages

Four further distinct papers are still needed for this stage’s five-paper collection. Original mocks for OBMEP’s other levels and second phases, Jacob Palis, OBM, TM² and international selection are not published here yet. Regional contests need individual format checks.
